Food and Wine

The wide selection of food recipes that this region can offer, is one of the several reason for visiting our places since our food and wine are a must that can’t be missed. The flavours and tastes from Abruzzo are strictly connected to the geography of the region: the sea and the mountain. The “brodetto “ with blue fish or the “dop” clam are typical meals of our coast to be tasted possibly on a Trabocco very close to the sea.

Moving towards the inner part, you can discover the rich food tradition linked to the territory.

One of the most well –known  dishes  of Abruzzo cookery is the “spaghetti alla chitarra” dressed with tomato sauce and tiny meat-balls  prepared with a specific guitar-shaped  tool called “chitarra” for obtaining spaghetti from a layer of  pasta made with flour and fresh eggs.

To be mentioned in addition: “sagne, “  maccheroni alla mugnaia”, “ maltagliati” and the polenta from Abruzzo.

Regarding   meat  courses  the “arrosticini”, delicious kebab made from  sheep and castrated mutton are to be absolutely mentioned as well as pork and lamb.

Our territory  is very rich in tasty, original and typical products , as potatoes, the white “cardo”( typical vegetable),  the black lentil and the red garlic just to mention some of them, which make our cookery simply great.

Very important  also to be mentioned, truffle and saffron production from Navelli.

The “parrozzo”  from Pescara can’t be missed among the cakes, whose name was created by our well-known poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, the cagionetti (similar to a fried raviolo filled with a mixture of  cocoa, must and chick-peas) and the bocconotti.

There are innumerable restaurants and trattorias scattered on the territory where you can taste and enjoy these specialties.
